Come and participate in the German-Chinese Innovation Dialogue on 4 December 2018 at Cologne Game Haus! If you are interested in learning more about the Chinese gaming market or plan to invest in China, grab your chance to get all your questions answered.

“Won’t they copy my idea?”

China is an extremely interesting market for game developers, publishers and affiliated companies. The Chinese represent about 20% of the world population and most of them own a smartphone. Almost one billion devices capable of 4G are said to be around in the country. With approx. 600 active gamers, China is the world’s biggest market for PC- and mobile games. According to “Technode”, revenues of 35 billion USD were generated by apps in 2017. This makes China the world’s most successful market for apps.

However China is a difficult market for foreign companies. Strict rules of the registration authorities result in extensive adaptations which increase the product costs, different behaviours of the Chinese players ask for new business models and the fear of successful business models being copied is always given.

During the one-day event, experts from Germany and China will share their insights and form a realistic picture of opportunities and risks of the Chinese market. The markets of the rather Western Hongkong and Taiwan regions will also be covered as potential test markets for China newbies.

The event is organized by German Industry & Commerce Chamber Greather China as part of the worldwide network of the German Chambers of Commerce Abroad. Cooperation partners are Cologne Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Federal Association of Computer Game Developers (GAME) as well as the Initiative of Culture and Creative Industries of the German federal government.
